FRIDAY,25AUG2006
reported in sch at 2pm
mark attendance, and sec 4s did a bag check for us...
after that went up the bus and had a scary bus ride because the aircon broke down and the sec 3s were telling me and ives to hold on to the railing or else we might fly out..lols..
reach the jetty at ard 4pm
sat on the boat and reach pulau ubin..
walk a very very very very long distance =X
finally reach npcc campsite at ard 5pm i think...
settled into our grp..
i was in grp 2 (: with jia wei..heng sia...lols
den we were to pitch our tent within 1/2hr...
however...
none of the girls in my grp knows how to pitch a tent lest even tie a bowline and tent guy loop knot..-.-
thus, i was left alone to do everything..
and they were chatting..
i told them to peg and they said it was difficult,
thus i was left to do everything myself...=.-
forget it..im not so petty...
so i did everything by myself...
and i was praying the tent will survive and stay strong because it was so so shaky =/
hmm..then was dinner time..
for dinner, we had 9 mass tins, 9 stoves and 18 packets of food because
our grp had 18 people..
thus it means that the rationing of food will last us for 2 days...
not bad..quite alot of things i shld say...hahas...
after dinner was ice breaking
we introduce ourselves..hahas..
so that was fri..
we had to do sentry duty too...so my grp did frm 11.45pm-12.30am
gd larh..because you can slp all e way and not worry about anything (:
oh ya..
if you guys dunno what sentry duty means..
it means that you have to walk ard npcc campsite and make sure
that there is no suspicious ppl walking and loitering ard (:
dinner ate only a packet of horlicks =\
my reflections on friday:
as there is only the tent pitching event, i shall say about that as in schools by schools..
frm what i hear frm jss students, when we try to teach them the proper way and teach them how to tie those knots, they are not willing to learn
some even said that we shld do it because we know and they are not keen on learning.
some even showed attitude and complain that we are just trying to boast to them that jss knows how to pitch a tent.
but that is not the case, we just want to share what we have learn,
because for the past wk, we have been training just to pitch a tent.
as the others do not know, we only wanted to show them how is it like so that they will learn.
but they just think it the other way round, thus we do not complain so much, but help the jss students in a way or another as some grp only have 1 jss student to pitch the tent...
SATURDAY,26AUG2006
had to fall in at 6am but we were late by 5 min and we were only lectured by the instructors.
did light pt and we had our breakfast.
after breakfast,
we were divided into 3 sections,
one was to build a gadget making, second was to go for rock climbing, maize and low rope while the third was to hike ard pulau ubin.
we did the gadget making first.
at first, no one in my grp had any ideas, thus me and jia wei decided to give out ideas.
initially they agreed on it, and we sat on to work.
however halfway thru', they just sat down talking...
our instructor mam mysarah(pioneer CI) and sir mark(area 18 CI) talked to us and asked us to change our attitude.
after lunch, continued to play with the 2nd event and followed by the third event.
it was quite fun actually and sir and mam actually praise us,
because we suddenly know the meaning of teamwork and we worked and co0rperate as a grp (:
after dinner was campfire.
it was fun!
very very fun..
the CIs were sort of crazy over it...
hahahs...
sang songs and become crazy..
LOL
however,
as we were quite irresponsible, we had to be lectured by the CIs again..
because our sense of ugency was not there...
after that had sentry duty but mine was change to 4.15am =X
i was nearly late..i mean my grp...
cause i woke up at 4.15am exactly and those guys dunno where they were and were late by 15min...
instructors said who late by 15min had to do double sentry..but lucky
this CI close an eye (:
breakfast: horlicks
lunch: biscuits
dinner: horlicks again..=X
SUNDAY,27AUG2006
fall in at 6am and did pt again...
and then had breakfast...my proper meal of da day with a can of tuna..
being force by boon how,wei en ives and shi bin they all....xD
hahas...
den went to unpitch the tent..
and we did not do area cleaning because just as we were about to go home,
it rained!!!
ahhhhhh..pathetic..stop me frm going home =X
but nvm...
reach home and blogging now...LOL
my reflections for saturday and sunday:
i think that at least we had some cooperation in the end..
however what i thought was that none of the cadets in other schools wanted to volunteer themselves..
thrice when the instructors wanted 3-4 volunteers, it is either all 4 JSS cadets went to volunteer or only 3 JSS cadets and 1 cadet frm another sch volunteered...hais...
where has their spirit of unity gone to?
also, when we were suppose to clean up the groundsheets,
they were slacking down there, expecting us to clean.
some even complained that we did not clean enough..
but it is okay for us..
because it shows their attitude and not ours.
we try our best in doing everything
and we are willing to try hard.
to me, though i feel that atc is abit slack,
but that is not the problem.
so what if we gone through the atc?
some of us just go for the sake of going
and some just go for the sake of getting that badge.
but i do not think so..
even if you get the badge,
what do you learn frm it?
i think that the end of the product is not important.
it is the process that is important.
the process of hardship, what we gone through,
what we gain independence,
trust,
and many others more,
that made us deserve to get this badge.
the hardship that each and everyone of us went,
to get the badge.
this is then the process and the important part.
because you will never forget the suffering you went through
thus, the end of the product is not really that important.
so as long as you learnt sth,
it is an accomplishment.
the end of your product is not important because what you have learn and experience in this camp is not taught in schools.
If ppl have the mentality that we just do it for the sake of doing, then
i think that is wrong.
we shld be looking at the bright side because of the process that we went thru' together with the CIs and the campers made us learn alot...
i think that sec 2 squad volunteer themselves even when no one wants to volunteer and we do not complain about that..
and when someone is in need of pitching a tent, we help out as long as we can...
sec 2 kambete!
***
it proves that atc is not that worse after all...
it is just abit of slack and i think that the CIs could be tougher with us...
atc= adventure training camp
some change to atc=stc=suffering torturing camp
or atc=act truthfully cute
shall stop here for now...
to all who ask and wants to know more about atc (:
ta-dda...
here it is :DDDDD
